Zero Harm is an initiative that was originally started by Balfour Beatty Construction which aims to achieve; zero deaths, zero injuries to the public and no long term harm to health by 2012 in construction.
Dortech has embraced this initiative and believes in its objectives. No one comes to work to get injured, so implementing controls and processes to reduce the chance of injury must be beneficial to all, regardless of which company you work for. Dortechs mechanism for achieving this is to ensue Zero Harm features throughout the company and the supply chain i.e. is not an end of line process. We have conducted a thorough assessment of the company's internal and external activities and have introduced a number of new exciting changes that not only improve our Health and Safety performance, but improve the overall service we are able to offer our customers.Some of the basic changes we have applied include the following:
· Leading by example to develop a stronger safety culture
· Simplifying working processes to enable safe working practices
· Tracking our tasks and being aware of the impact they have on others
· Re-thinking the risks and understand that I am part of the solution
· Involving the people we work with and developing them through coaching
· Learning to embrace and adapt to change
· Making safety personal with everyone taking ownership
