1st December 2008: Wakefield Westgate Curtain Walling Project Secured

Dortech are delighted to announce they have been selected by builders Harlow & Milner to carry out the curtain walling and glazing works for part of the Wakefield Westgate redevelopment.
Dortechs works will comprise of the design, manufacture and installation of over 300m2 of curtain walling in addition to a number of thermally broken aluminium windows. Technals MX Curtain walling suite and FXi52 Window suites will be used in the construction.

Dortech are delighted with the achievements of Gordon Donald. Every year he has been instrumental in raising money for Children In Need on behalf of Dortech. Gordon’s efforts this year have reslted in a grand total of £652 being raised.

31st August 2008: Curtain Walling Contract for Darwen Academy

Dortech are delighted to announce Bowmer & Kirkland have selected them to carry out the glazing works to Darwen Academy. The curtain walling contract has a value in excess of £1million (GBP). The scheme will comprise of a structural silicon bonded Curtain walling system, aluminium windows and entrance doors. The contract will represent the fifth Academy based curtain walling project the company has secured within the last 12 months. As a borough, Blackburn with Darwen is one of the most deprived council areas in the United Kingdom. With this in mind, Blackburn with Darwen Council identified the need to establish an Academy as part of its Building Schools for the Future proposal - a 15 year government scheme aiming to transform teaching and learning, and provide buildings fit for the 21st Century. 1st August 2008: Hybrid Performs At Wintech

Dortech have now brought to market the award winning and sustainable, Hybrid facade suite. Hybrid is a new complete fenestration system that combines the durability of PPC Aluminium and the high quality finish of engineered timber.

Dortechs Scheduling and Technical Manager, Les Sutton has worked closely with Senior Aluminium Systems to launch Hybrid as a new innovative product that will greatly enhance any glazing facade.

Hybrid has all the benefits of most commercial Aluminium curtain walling and window systems with the added bonus of excellent acoustic performance and improved thermal performance. The window system has been vigorously tested and has passed BS6375 Part 1 and the curtain walling suite has passed all necessary CWCT (Centre for Window and Cladding Technology) testing standards.

With the recent introduction of trickle vents and multi-point locking systems Hybrid is compliant with the current building regulations Approved Document F, making it suitable for sale in the UK domestic market.

1st June: Record Orders Received

Dortech has had another exceptionally good month of Sales in June securing prestigious curtain wall, window and door contracts; Toronto Square in Leeds, Swindon Academy and Pennywell School in Sunderland. With an accumulative value of over £2,000,000 Dortechs sales figures remain stronger than ever irrespective of the current economic climate.

Pennywell School was secured with Balfour Beatty and Aedas Architects, after a strong relationship was established during work conducted on the Bassetlaw BSF Programme Phases one and two. Technal's MX curtain wall suite and Technal FXi65 thermally broken windows were combined with high specification glass to achieve the very best thermal performance possible to reduce the schemes carbon footprint.

Swindon Academy was secured with Leadbitter Construction being the fifth Academy project the company has secured in the past 12 months. The United Learning Trust of Swindon Borough Council and Department for Education and Skills (DfES) along with support from the private sector have been driving the Swindon Academy project forward for some years with a view to uniting all the current schools in the Headland Groves area of Swindon. A combination of Schuco FW50+SG curtain walling and Technal FXi65 windows were used as part of Dortechs bespoke design.

Toronto Square (as pictured above) is a £10 million redevelopment project in Leeds for ISG Totty backed by Highcross Strategic Advisors Limited. The development designed by the architects Aedas, will create over 90,000 sq ft of grade A office space for Leeds City centre which will include a large extension at the rear of the building and the inclusion of 2 new floors comprising of vast amounts of curtain walling.

28th May 2008: Dortech wins Supply Chain Award

On the 28th May, Dortech were invited to attend the Annual Supply Chain Awards held by HBG Construction Ltd in which they were awarded the Regional Contractor of the Year in recognition of their performance relating to the Design and Delivery on bespoke Glazing and Curtain Walling projects during 2007 and 2008.
Commenting on the award scheme, HBG Supply Chain Manager for the North East, Nigel Gallagher explains that all contract suppliers to the company are scored quarterly over a 12 month period on site performance, health & safety, compliance, design input, commercial and contractual co-operation. It's a two way street he says, our scheme provides a channel for internal recommendation between contract managers whilst ensuring that suppliers know just what HBG expects of them on site. As a result of their exceptionally high scores, Dortech have been promoted to Category One preferred supplier.
Having just completed Huddersfield University Creative Arts Media Building and Princess Quay Cinema, Dortech is now working to build their relationship with HBG further to become a national curtain walling supplier.

11th April 2008 : Dortech Secures Hoyle Street Contract

Dortech is pleased to announce they have successfully secured the bespoke glazing and curtain walling package for Ocon Constructions £44 million Hoyle Street Project. The value of the curtain wall contract is circa £1.4mil (GBP). Ocon Construction started on site towards the beginning of 2008 and expect to have the development completed by July 2009.
The architects Browne Smith Barker have designed the complex to incorporate slender curtain wall screens that Dortech will design and install using Technals popular MX Curtain Walling Suite. Technal FXi65 Windows and FXi52 Balcony doors will also feature with each student living space cluster.

1st March 2008 : A Month of Achievement

Supply Chain Success: Dortech are pleased to announce they have been selected by HBG Construction for the Silver Award as Regional Contractor of the Year for the North East Region for work carried out during 2007. This award is testimony to all the hard work the company's employees have committed in building the relationship with HBG Construction. Health & Safety: Dortech's Health & Safety Officer, Karyn Jones has also been successful in achieving a Gold Award from HBG in recognition of her Health & Safety performance during February 2008. Newly Qualified: Steve McMann, Mark Clifford and Paul Riley have successfully achieved their City and Guilds NVQ Qualification for Logistics, Storage and Warehousing. Dortech are delighted with their achievements and will continue to support any employees who express an interest in training and skills development.

1st February 2008: Dortech Appoints a New Managing Director

Dortech has announced the appointment of Commercial Director, James Sutherland as Managing Director to take effect from February 1st 2008. The news emerges after Stephen Sutherland's decision to reduce his day to day involvement with the company, but retain his position as Chairman. The move will allow him to take a more strategic role within Dortech whilst providing additional time for other non related business interests through the private equity firm, Endless LLP where he acts as Chairman for a number of their investments. In response to his imminent appointment, James said: "I am delighted by the Board's decision to back my appointment. We have a proactive, customer focused team and it is invigorating to be part of such a dynamic group of people. The company's future looks incredibly exciting".
