Dortech has just completed glazing works to the Future Business Centre in Cambridge. Dortech were contracted by Interserve and the project was designed by architects, Saunders Boston.

This exciting scheme incorporated a number of innovative facade products and treatments including photo voltaics and projecting, welded, picture frame pressings around each glazing pod. Dortech incorporated translucent photovoltaic panels within the curtain wall grid to enable internal spaces to benefit from natural light.

To create an interesting architectural feature, the photo voltaics panels project out from the curtain walling in some areas, supported with steel bracketry which penetrates the curtain walling mullions. The curtain wall mullions have been enhanced with steel plates to minimise deflection and the potential for glass racking.

Photovoltaic wiring is concealed throughout the curtain wall grid with the use of extended, square, feature curtain wall caps.
