Technical Estimator / Bid Manager
Dortech Architectural Systems has been designing, manufacturing & installing aluminium windows, curtain walling and entrance doors for over 24 years. We are involved in new build and refurbishment projects across the UK but primarily in the North of England. The projects that we are involved with typically incorporate some level of complexity that requires a thorough knowledge of aluminium systems; their performance capabilities, their suitability for different types of projects, the applicable estimating & design software and current building regulations.
The role of Technical Estimator is suitable for an individual capable of providing well presented, accurate & timely quotations, cost plans and budgets for our Main Contractor customers, budgets to PQS companies and technical and design assistance to Architects. The role will also include attending project specific meetings, such as pre-contract meetings and technical meetings where required.

- Experience: Minimum 3 Years’ experience in the commercial glazing market
- Location: Unit 3, Fieldhouse Park, Huddersfield, HD2 1FA. This is situated off Leeds road in Huddersfield. The successful candidate will live in Huddersfield, or surrounding areas
- Company vehicle: No, however use of company pool car for meetings
- Pensions: Yes non-contributory pension scheme in place, in accordance with the Workplace Pensions Regulator
- System & Software Knowledge: Schueco, Technal, Seniors, AluProf, Kawneer. The successful candidate will be fully proficient in the use of Microsoft; Word, Outlook and Excel.
- References: Minimum of three work references required
Key Skills:
- Use of Logikal and TechDesign estimating software.
- Time management skills
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings (plans, elevations, sections)

Aluminium Facade Designer
Established in 1993, Dortech has established itself as one of the UK’s most reputable, technically competent and customer service orientated glazing contractors, specialising in the design, manufacture & installation of curtain walling, glazed rooflights, entrance glazing, aluminium windows and doors.
A fantastic opportunity has just arisen to join our Design Department as a Design Draughtsperson. The successful applicant will have a background within the aluminium windows, doors and curtain walling industry and experience of communicating with architects, site and design managers. The successful Designer must also have experience using Autodesk Software (AutoCAD and/or Revit)
Curtain Wall Designer Position Overview
- Produce detailed CAD drawings for client approval
- Liaise with architects, site and design managers
- Attend pre-contract design meetings
- Attend internal handover meetings
- Producing design work in accordance with project programmes
- CDM assessments
- Utilisation of RFI procedures
Curtain Wall Designer Position Requirements
- A minimum 3 years plus continual use of AutoCAD
- A minimum 3 years plus experience in Architectural Glazing
- Curtain wall, glazed rooflights, aluminium windows and doors experience
- Working knowledge of aluminium glazing systems, such as Technal, Schueco, SAS, Sapa
- Strong AutoCAD skills
- Good communication
- IT proficiency (Microsoft office) Knowledge of UK Building Regulations
- Must provide examples of work prior to interview
- Location: Huddersfield Office, or Liverpool Office
