PFCO Certified Drone Surveys

Technology is at the heart of what we do. But as well as being convenient and quick, technology can also improve safety and offer more cost-effectiveness for schools, hospitals and other sensitive environments our maintenance teams encounter on a day to day basis.

Dortechs drone surveys are increasingly playing a pivotal role in the building surveying process. They allow our maintenance engineers to investigate building issues without the need to use mobile elevating work platforms – meaning inspection imagery can be received in real time, and grounds’ managers are quickly informed of any issues which need resolving. This has proven to be particularly useful with facade assessments, to identify water ingress and weak points in a buildings envelope.

As a result, the duration and price of the project are both reduced – making it a much more time and cost-efficient option for our clients. In fact providing suitable permissions are attained, our teams can carry our a full drone survery in as little as 30 minutes.

Our teams hold Permissions for Commercial Operations (PFCO) Pilots Licenses, certified through the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). We have experience operating in extremely challenging environment and in different categories of airspace. Some of our work has taken us into city centres, where we have had to work with local police forces, councils and air traffic control to undertake our surveys by the safest means possible.

We are also currently working alongside a number of building envelope fire assessors conducting fire safety surveys of buildings facades and will be happy to help should you have any immediate requirements, or concerns with your building’s facade. We can provide; 3D modelling, high definition photography and thermal heat mapping of any buildings.

This means that if emergency repairs need to be carried out at a peak time – or indeed, in times like these where social distancing is vitally important – information about the problem can be diagnosed quickly and with fewer people involved. This, therefore, enables our expert maintenance teams to devise a plan to repair or replace a screen, roof, window or door, with greater efficiency and minimised site disruption.

In addition, with less equipment and transport required in the early stages of surveying, it’s an effective way of reducing our carbon footprint.
